Entain, the gaming giant<\/a> which owns Ladbrokes, is to repay \u20a4 44m of the furlough cash it claimed throughout the pandemic, but keep \u20a4 57.5 m.<\/p>\n

Carolyn Harris MP called it “absolutely disgraceful” that Entain was not repaying all of it, despite skyrocketing revenues.<\/p>\n

The group made \u20a4 393m in pre-tax earnings in 2021, up 125% on the year before.<\/p>\n

It stated the furlough plan had helped to protect<\/a> 14,000 tasks, and a “more particular medium-term outlook” made the partial repayment<\/a> possible.<\/p>\n

Entain has around 3,000 betting stores in the UK branded Ladbrokes or Coral –<\/a> which it needed to close for large parts of 2020 and 2021 due to the fact that of coronavirus constraints.<\/p>\n
